This is a full sized carbon steel slicing cleaver, or Chinese cleaver, with an asymmetric compound grind, a “P” grind if you like. I would characterize it as being on the heavier end of the lightweight category, but still outside of the proper chopper category. Please note that it is for right-handed use, the compound grind and the rounded finger notch are only on the right side of the blade. The handle is oval in cross section.
